Producer Arthur Reed utilised many of the songs he had written with Nacio Herb Brown during the 1920s and 30s, setting the film in 1927 in order to make the songs sound as though they were of the right era. Of course, it is the theme song which proved the most endearing (ask yourself this question – how often have you found yourself walking along in the rain and not begun singing the theme?), but other stand out tracks include 'You Were Meant For Me', 'Make ‘Em Laugh' and 'Good Morning'.
