Although better known as an actress, making her screen debut in the Howard Hughes produced The Outlaw in 1941 (although the film was not released until 1943), Jane Russell developed other talents during her time in the Hollywood limelight. These included singing, which she was required to do occasionally in her later films but which was truly revealed in 1957 when she launched a hugely successful nightclub act at the Sands Hotel in Las Vegas. Indeed, so successful and popular was her performance she was invited to take the act out on the road and over the next few years appeared in countries as diverse as Canada, Mexico, South America and across Europe. This album mixes material from some of her films together with gospel material recorded with the likes of Rhonda Fleming, Connie Haines and Beryl Davies.
