Pet Sounds Volume 1 showcased Petula Clark's very first recordings, dating back to 1949 for EMI and through to her signing with the newly launched Polygon label in 1950. Petula was to remain with the label, through its evolution into Nixa and then Pye Records, until 1971. This second collection continues the Petula Clark story and contains what became her very first hit record, 'The Little Shoemaker', a number seven hit in 1954 and its follow-up 'Majorca', a top twenty hit eight months later.
