Like many of her contemporaries, Kay Starr initially emerged as a solid jazz singer before switching to pop and enjoying a hit laden career. Indeed, Kay was one of the first pop singers to capitalise on the growing impact of rock with her hit 'Rock And Roll Waltz' (a UK number one hit in 1956), having already topped the UK charts with her debut hit 'Comes A-Long A-Love'. Although Kay concentrated more on a performing career during the 1960s, her return to the nostalgia circuit in the 1990s confirmed that for many she was a star by name and nature.
This album contains her finest moments from 1952 and earlier, including that UK chart topper 'Comes A-Long A-Love'.
